Signally Radio (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices when you use https://signallyradio.com (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
a) Account & Registration Data
When you create an account, we collect: email address, username, country, account status (e.g., verified), and timestamps. Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes (never in plain text). For security and abuse prevention, we also record your IP address at signup and, on successful login, your IP address and login time (and may record your browser user-agent).
b) Automatically Collected Data
• Device & Browser: IP address, browser type/version, operating system, and general device information.
• Usage: Pages viewed, stations selected, basic interaction timestamps, and error diagnostics.
• Cookies/Storage: Session cookies for authentication; a short-lived cookie for “Surprise Me”/station selections; and local storage to remember your light/dark theme.
c) Third-Party Data We Display
• Streaming Metadata: “Now playing” song/artist data from the public Radio Browser ecosystem.
• Album Art: Public artwork URLs via the iTunes Search API.
• Music News: Headlines from public RSS feeds (e.g., Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, AllMusic).
2. How We Use Information
- Provide the Service: Stream stations, show live metadata/album art, and keep your session active.
- Account Management: Create and secure your account, verify your email (verification links expire ~1 hour), and block logins until verified.
- Security & Abuse Prevention: Use signup/login IPs and logs to detect fraud and protect accounts.
- Personalization: Remember your theme preference and recently played items.
- Ads: Serve ads via Google AdSense.
- Improve & Debug: Monitor performance, fix bugs, and analyze feature usage.
- Communications: Send service emails (e.g., verification, important notices).
3. Cookies & Local Storage
- Session cookies keep you logged in.
- Short-lived cookies may cache random/featured station selections (typically about an hour).
- Local storage saves light/dark theme.
You can control cookies in your browser; disabling some may limit functionality.
4. Third-Party Providers
- Google AdSense: Advertising and related cookies. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- SendGrid: Email delivery for verification and account messages.
- Render: Hosting/infrastructure for our application and database.
- iTunes Search API: Public album artwork.
- Radio Browser API: Station directory/metadata (we do not send your account data to them).
- Public RSS Feeds: Music news headlines.
These providers may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) to operate their services.
5. Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active (and as required by law or to resolve disputes).
- Signup/login IPs are generally retained for up to 180 days for security and audit purposes.
- Server/application logs used for debugging and reliability are typically retained up to 30 days.
- Caches for metadata and images are short-lived (minutes to hours) and then refreshed.
6. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, rate-limited verification re-sends, and other safeguards appropriate for a consumer web service. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to certain processing. You can also request a new verification email if needed. Contact us to exercise your rights.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices or legal requirements change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date, and if changes are material, we’ll display a notice on the site.
